Advanced Master Beef Producer Program

The UT Extension Office offers an Advanced Master Beef Producer Class held here in Pickett County.

Participants will not only receive training in becoming more profitable in the cattle business, but will also receive a hat, certificate and advanced master beef sign to be place on their farm, a forage test, a soil test, meals and refreshments during the program and at the graduation. 
The sessions focus on timely topics related to beef cow management and include subjects such as forages, nutrition, health, genetics and reproduction. An additional benefit to graduating from the program includes increase cost – share funding from the Tn. Dept. of Agriculture from 35% to 50%.

Advanced Master Beef certification is required for those producers that took an original master beef course any time before 2008 and would like to receive 50% cost share through TAEP. Other applications for the program are available at the local UT Extension Office and producers in surrounding counties are encourage to sign up also. Cost for the program is $75.00. This is a 3 year certification with not only benefits from the TDA Grant Program, but detailed and timely information to help make producers more profitable within the beef industry. Surveys have all been very positive from livestock producers graduating from the class and they have indicated that they would definitely be more profitable by going thru the program.
